May need to do an amp bypass, so I need to know where it is. 1997 Lexus ES 300.

Its behind the glove box right side of dash. You couls also use a metra wire harness and leave the factory amp in there. I think the part number is 70-8112 or 70-8113

I am using the 8112, but like all the lexus's I've done in the past, it has engine noise.

if its a nakamichi system its behind the glove box  above the kick panel.(pain in the butt.)   If its the pioneer system its under the pass seat.  eaither way its a normal toyota harness at the amp.  Ive always had the 8112 work well when i use it,  what head unit are u using?

try using 2 ground loop noise filters in vetween see if it solves the engine noise. It has work for me in certain cars,
