I have a 1st gen Orion HCCA 224 and an older Audiocontrol 2XS with bridging. The sub I'm running is a KickerL7 2ohm DVC into one terminal to 1 ohm. To bridge do I run the RCAs into the Audiocontrol, out of the bridging positions and into the amp? This seems easy enough, but the outputs of the amp are 4 cables for two channels. Which of the cables do I attach to my terminals? Tried to research is and it doesn't seem like a common sense thing to meposted_image

Also, which amperage fuse should I run from the battery to the power? I know there are calculators to find that but I don't know what my amp will actually put out at 1 ohm bridged.

Thank you, rguy

Yes signal goes through the Audio Control piece and then to the amp via the bridge outputs.  I seem to remember the 225 having standard RCA jacks along with a 5 pin din connector, used only when using Orion's Bridging module.  If the amp has RCA jacks use them.

If this 4 cable thing you are talking about is a 5 pin din plug.   You need to be very careful.  One of the 4 cables has + 15 to 18 volts on it.  Another will have - 15 to 18 volts on it.  The other 2 will be signal.

If it does have the RCA jacks on the amp, run the normal out of the AudioControl piece to the left input. Run the invert out to the right channel.  Orange will be    +    and Yellow will be     -     From what I remember a 30 amp fuse should do just fine.

alright, it does have RCA input on the amp, so I'll try the orange as + and yellow as -. Thanks!

That is Orange + and yellow - if you connect normal to left and inverted to right.

Everything is now hooked up, and I get a super loud low tone. I ran an ipod with rcas right in front of my xover (bridging unit), and the bass plays fine. I assume nothing is "wrong" with my amp, xover, or sub. Now I don't know where to go next. I need a better ground, ground HU in same place as amp, etc. I don't have a lot of time, and who wants to mess with stuff that isn't a necessary step?posted_image It takes almost 25 minutes to tear apart my honda dash to get to the radio, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.. What does everyone think?

Sony mid-level unit CDX-GT610UI. The rca's are used, but I don't think are especially cheap

Take a short piece of wire, ground one end and touch the other end to the shield of the patch cord.  Behind the radio is the better place to do this.  If it is hard to get the deck out, it can be done on the input cable of the XOver.  If this makes the noise go away, your radio is the bad component.   Let us know what happens.

Hey did you ever get your power and ground wires upgraded on that amp?

no, i'd have to send it somewhere and basically pay more than the amp is worth. I DID however resolder the broken connections and buy a new capacitor for some random piece of the board that broke off. When I got that done I felt pretty proud :P. Anyway my amp is hot, but seems to be working well. I've yet to do a long term test, as soon as I get this ground issue sorted out. Bass kicks nicely when run directly out of the xover into an ipod.

*I bought the Sony at Circuit city only a few months ago. It has a warranty. I can probably try those muting plugs or whatever they're called in a few days and I'll let you know what happens. Some other things I want to try is to test the resistance of the frame bolt I have the amp and xover grounded to.

the constant noise is present whenever power is running through the remote at the head unit rcas are touching the crossover. Doesn't matter if the volume is 0 or up. Just adding that

Did you try grounding the shields of the RCA cables yet?

Ok so I took the ground from my trunk ground block and took 10 ga wire. I held it on the outside of the RCA, not the actual prong, I assumed this was the shield metal. I still got the same low noise. Then I accidentally touched the ground the to Xovers imputs for the rcas and got a higher bass note and a spark in my xover so i stopped doing that... heh nothing was damaged. So what's this mean? I CAN play music direct into my xover so I'm praying nothing would be wrong with my xover or amp. The head unit still has a warranty and new rcas aren't too expensive. What do you think? Relocate radio ground to battery or trunk and get new radio positive?

Also my remote wire is the blue wire part of the 5 din plug, which I assume is correct. The only thing I don't know is next to the large red and black power wires is a small gauge black wire. I did research and I can't find what that's for?
