ok all here i go

let me start by saying ,that im new here.so hello to all and thanks for looking in to my post.ok i have a 2000 lincoln town car and i want to run 4 12's in the trunk in a ported encloser. MA120XE is the subs i will b running and i will be running 1< color=#fb0034 >MA AUDIO HK1000D for each pair of subs and my head unit is

PIONEER DEH-P980BT which i dont think the head unit matters much in the install. now for my problem i have built several sealed box's but never built nor do i know where to start on building a slot ported box. if anyone knows anything about that can you assist me in my journy. problem number 2 i am not sure of any desent highs and mids that i could run in my car sence every car i have bought up till this point has had no sterio in it (lol) open to any suggestions but as of now my biggest consern is my box and again thank you for your time

A slot ported box is no different than a vented box that uses a round port.  Just the shape of the port.  What amplifier do you have to power the subs?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Looks like he has a pair of MA audioHK1000 amps.

I would suggest as always to go have a listen to some speakers. I would also consider putting more emphasis (like components of higher quality) on the front speakers rather than the rears because with four 12"s you will certainly drown the rears out. I would also amplifiy the interior speakers.

I sometimes use the website www.subwoofertools.com. Click on panel layout v4 and enter your sub info. It will give you a cutsheet and is pretty accurate. I just got finished building a box off of there, and it performs great. That is much easier than drawing up a box, but like I said its not 100% accurate sometimes, you just have to mess around with the calculator for a little while. I think that RE audio also has a box calculator like this, but I have never used it.

lostcreeker) thanks looks like a good way to go but i have 1 problem i cant seem to find the specs needed to enter in the calculator?

stevdart) yea i think a slot would look alot better for my install

dwarren)just what i was thinking but i have no idea on what i should look for in components? due to my lack of having radios in my car before.

thank you all for your imput as you can tell i am not a pro as a matter a fact i think im in the rookie stage and need as much assistance as i can get  so again thank you for your support

Write to mailto:TechSupport@maaudio.com for a list of parameters for the sub model that you own.
