Hi, I was thinking about getting myself a new cd player with the bluetooth built in, like the one's offered by pioneer. Has anyone actually used one of these before? Are they nice or are they total pain? Also if you have used one before, how does it sync up verizon wireless phones? Any feedback would be great.

The Pioneer 9800bt is a mediocre unit as far as bluetooth is concerned, I prefer to install a 5900ib and a Parrot kit. As far Verizon phones go, I have nothing but but problems syncing them. Particularly the phone book portion. From what I understand Verizon uses encryption codes on their software making it difficult to sync with other devices.

We have hooked up pioneer and sony radios with built in BT and both are ok. I have found that the success of the sound quality is dependant on the car that it is going into. the same sony unit going into a diesel rabbit and a mercedes had very predictable results. I am a sprint user, and most of my customers have been sprint or cingular. The one verizon customer that I helped out had a motorola universal kit and there were no issues.

I had the pioneer 7900BT in a 01 Deville and loved it, no problems at all, i switched to a AVIC -N1  with a parrot 3100LCD and love it as well again no problems at all.

I've installed both the Blaupunkt and Sony Bluetooth units and both have worked well...
