hey guys i work at an audio shop here in louisiana.. ran into a weird problem other day with an install. customer had older pioneer headunit and memphis amp on subs that we installed. yesterday he wanted to upgrade his headunit to a newer and higher model... did that with ease.. once its installed turned it on about mid volume got so much distortion and clipping coming from my highs and mids.. which is running off of the headunit. turned it up more sound starts to cut out from the highs and mids... so i went to troubleshoot.. unplug rcas to the sub amp.. and everything plays fine. no clippin distortion or anything even at high volume..
so thought it was rcas went and swapped it out... did same thing. put his old pioneer deck in and everything was fine and dandy... so thought it was our new pioneer deck replaced that and did same thing.. the new pioneer deck had 4v preout..

anyone ran into something like this?

EVERYBODY has run into this... search for "pioneer noise" and you will see the solution. I am tired of typing the same thing over and over again, or I would just tell you.posted_image

Could be a defective HU.  It is Pioneer, after all.  :)  Also, I assume you dropped the input gain on the sub amp all the way down before you connected up the new HU?
