Went from an Alpine CDA-9851 to the NEW 9887. Works great and install was easy. I didnt like the way i installed the 9887 the first time so i bought both brand new harness from crutchfield for the stock harness and one for the 9887 on eBay. Installed both color-coded and everything came out real nice and everything. One thing i noticed on the 9887 is that the battery wire has a grey box with a 10 fuse in there? IDK if thats normal or....? Unlike the 9885 im selling the fuse is right by the harness plug on the back of the 9885? I sanded down the ground which i think was for the HU down by the feet of the passanger? I SHOULD of just got the ground from the HU and grounded it directly to the car but thought it would be better to sand the stock ground? I dont remember if i ever got static from local stations with my 9851 but i guess im starting to notice it more now. IDK what it can be? Its not THAT BAD but every now and then it will cut in and out with some light static. Anyone with some help.

I drive an 05 Scion tC.

Why did you need to buy a harness for a NEW radio? I would question the NEWness of the radio if it was incomplete... As far as static goes, light static is kinda normal and will be present on just about every radio station on just about every radio. Assuming that the tuner is the same in both radios, and you are noticing a difference in radio reception, there could have been solar flares recently...

put the stock harness back on. ground the ground under that bolt and sanded it down to bare metal. Put stock antenna back on (had S2000 antenna) and still a little static. Only in my driveway tho. I usually get the most on my way to work so ill test that out tomorrow. Hopefully one of those did the trick but still dont know what else it can be???
