where to place?used with subbox...in the middle of pos or neg ? how near or far from box?posted_image

Inline with the sub positive wire. Run it right in between the sub amp and the sub, if possible. You don't want it too close to the amp and especially not the sub.

A passive crossover goes in series with the + speaker lead and can be inside the speaker enclosure.  Read this.  For subwoofers, an active crossover (like the low-pass filter in most amplifiers) is FAR more efficient, and generally cheaper.
