i was recently working on my rear speakers in my trunk when the speaker wire fell and touched a wire connected to my amp.  My speakers made a loud noise and now no noise whatsoever comes out of them. any ideas of how to fix?

The rear speakers are powered by an amp? Model #'s of everything involved is nice. Do you know exactly which wire hit where?

no rear speakers are not powered by amp . i had a loose connection in my left speaker so i went into my trunk to put a barrell clamp on the wire and it fell and touched where the speakerwire connects to teh amp. amp still powers up and subs still work but no sound at all from front or rear speakers.  i thought they could of been blown but there is no distortion and no sound at all

Sounds more like the amp took the hit, not the speaker.

Possible that the deck protection circuit kicked in. Try resetting the deck. If this doesn't help, I suspect you have hurt the outputs on the deck and it needs to be serviced.

Do you get sound out of the fronts. If you do you might have blown the amp in the deck.

What kind of deck do you have? How did you reset it? Was there a reset button or did you just disconnect the power? Most aftermarket radios have protection circuits for just such an occurance, however I do not know if that is the case with factory setups. It sounds like you probably fried something in the deck. If you have more than one set of preouts you can always get a four channel amp for your other speakers...

I think you'll need to say more about how your system is connected if you want to get this fixed. Rear speakers on an amp or the head unit? Head unit stock or aftermarket? Any sparks or smoke or anything like that when the wire touched? Make and model of all involved components?

The output chip of your radio is toast.  What brand and model is your radio???

the deck is a Jensen MP7610,  all speakers are run by the head unit.

Ya your deck is probably fried. try hooking the speakers up to an external source of sound other than the head unit.
