I have a 2000 Dodge Neon ES that I just purchased. As an upgrade to its original radio I purchased an OEM Dodge radio 4 CD changer system model # MR587284. Which was out of a 2001 Dodge Stratus, with some minor alterations to the dash (small piece of plastic at the back of the hole was removed) the radio fit perfect. The issue that I'm having is when I turn the head lights on the display on the radio goes real dim to the point that I can't see it. When the lights are off the display is fine, if I turn the dimmer all the way down it’s somewhat viewable. Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You
Yeah... your dimmer wire is connected. If you DON'T want that feature to be active, disconnect the orange wire on the back of your radio.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
I want it connected, its just to dim when the car lights are on. I cann't see the time, station or anything on the factory radio that I installed.
So you want to have it connected but you are not satisfied with it doing what it is supposed to do?
Hmmmmmm...
I can't help you there...Maybe I didn't understand the question...
Well if its doing what it is suppose to be doing then its real terrible. When the head lights or park lights are on I can't even see the display on the radio at all. Its so dim its like the radio is out. No stations, no time, no nothing. If I turn the dimmer down to the lowest setting I can somewhat see the display on the radio, but not enough to change the stations while driving.
Perhaps this is obvious but my Canadian GM vehicles will dim the display only when the manual headlight switch is on during daylight hours. The reciever "thinks" it is night time and dims itself accordingly. If the headlight switch is left to it's normal or "off" position, the unit stays bright, with no dimming capability, until the full sets of headlight and tail lights come on when it gets dark enough. Does your vehicle have automatic daytime running lights (like all newer cars/trucks do here) or are they either "full on" or "full off"?
My lights are full off or full on. No daytime running lights. Its almost like the radio needs more power.
