Where is the OEM Amp location in a 97 Ford Excursion?

I found the one in the rear kick panel with a plastic woofer enclosure but where is the other one for all of the other speakers located?

hi,

Do you mean an Expedition?..I don't think Ford made the Excursion back in '97  The other amp in the Expedition should be beneath the heater controls in the dash, forward of the center console, if the vehicle has a center console.. Basically above the hump on the floor

hope this helps

It has a center console and CD Stacker with rear volume controls.

eject the cartidge from the cd changer.  there are two 8mm head bolts on each side at the rear of the console, remove them.  next remove the upper console trim panel (torx or 7mm headed screws along with metal clips)...should pull up.  in the console, once the above panel is removed, there should be two more 8mm headed bolts along each edge..roughly half way between the dash and console door.  remove those also.  there should be a large connector with a 10mm head bolt that retains the two halves.  loosen this so the connectors separate. unplug any other connnectors that may hinder removal of the console.  the console pulls back towards the rear of the vehicle. several inches should be all that is needed, as it will then lift upwards.  at the bottom front of where the console rested, there should be a trim panel that runs across the transmission hump.  remove this (several plastic clips i think).  the amp should be visible (barely) once this panel is removed.

Thank you very much

I removed the entire dash board and was able to see the amp . I removed the top screw but, something is holding the bottom now a couple of hidden screws, The Exposition is all torn apart now. I removed the ashtray too.

See I also removed the speaker from the rear panel which was another project and it is still appart.

Now I have to remove the console.

The reason is because the after market radio stopped putting out sound.

Best buy installed it in the dash with OEM harnesses and I think they may have blew the OEM amp inputs because the Sony Radio  puts out 50 watts. They did not add an audio adapter to reduce the wattage. Like an RCA Adapter.
