Topic: Audiobahn 15 Dub Series Subwoofer

Posted By: dub15
Subject: Audiobahn 15 Dub Series Subwoofer
Date Posted: October 03, 2007 at 9:43 PM

Hi, i just bought an audiobahn 15' dub series subwoofer. The sub is a dual voice coil and i had a few questions about it. The first question being, there is a positive and negative wire slot on either side of the sub basket, which would be normal with the dual voice coil but....instead of there only being one pos. and neg. slot on either side for the wires, there is two. On either both sides of the woofer there is 2 pos. and 2 neg. wire slots. I am running a single ported box that only has 1 set of terminals for the wires from the sub and i was wondering how i should wire it? which 2 wire slots should i use, both on one side or 1 set on either side? i am really confused about how to wire due to the 8 slots for speaker wire. Also what gauge wire should i be using in the box and to the amp? Thanks to anyone who can answer any of the questions.    Thanks again, Nick

ps: as you can see in the pic there is two pos. terminals and 2 neg. terminals. There is another set on the other side of the sub exactly alike the one you can see.

The extra set of terminals is there to ease wiring the woofer. Instead of stuffing multiple wires in one terminal it has multiple of the same, so it doesn't matter which pair of positive or negative per coil you use.

We cannot help you wire this woofer until you tell us what voice coil configuration it has, either dual 4, dual 2, etc.

So how much do you want to spend?

Posted By: haemphyst
Date Posted: October 07, 2007 at 4:17 PM
Fifty bucks? That's about what the Audioburn is worth, no matter WHAT you pay for it. Now, if you can get "The DUB" for LESS than fifty, do it, that'd be an OK deal, then... maybe...

No, seriously. How much, and we can possibly help with a few quality suggestions...

Well, if you are only willing to spend that much, forget it, NOONE can help you find anything with ANY amount of quality in it for that little bit of change.

Go with the DUB, and best of luck...

OR, you could save about that much again, and actually get something with realistic power ratings (if extremely LOW power ratings)

I've had good luck with the Power Acoustik PS2-520 and PS2-820 amps...but they are the older models and hard to find...solid and reliable amps though for a helluva price

im not looking for something thats gonna win f-ing competitions! This is going in a 2dr civic. It doesnt need all that much rms. I was thinkin that around 300-500 watt rms would be great. So...any suggestions for an amp that will produce 300-500 rms in any price range would be great. i just found out i was going to be able to spend a little more than i thought ( a bit more that is) so any suggestions would be great! Thanks a lot!!!! Nick

Absolutely. If you can get one of those for the money you have, it'll be a WAY better choice than the Audiobomb.

Even though I personally, am not a huge fan of the Fosbreak stuff, I'd buy it LONG before I'd let someone GIVE me Audiobahn!

A good to place to get a decent amp some times is the pawn shop, just make sure it works. I got a 5 channel Eclipse amp 35X4 with 1 @120 sub. I think I payed 130 for it. It works really good and my wife is very happy with it. It is curently running all 5 channels with no problem. Just look around they are out there. Check to see if you have a amp repair shop in your town alot of times they also have amps there they fixed and the person just left, so you can get a good amp that way on your limited budget.

That is something your gona have to check at your local shops can't remember but either Best buy or Circuit City has them also just pull out your phone book and see what shops carry them. Granted they are not the best of the best but I have had friends buy them and they worked just fine for them.

Here check this one out https://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8208183&type=product&id=1165610937725

Not bad for the price, if your wanting a lot of power you have to spend the money. They also have some with a lot more power but again more money but dollar for dollar I think they are hard to beat check out trhere main web sight they used to hold the world record for spl so they have some rockin amps.

Here is a link to there better amps with the msrp https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/album/compare/0,,2076_310069935,00.html

fusion amp? Have not heard of them, as far as the amp kit really depends on how much power your amp puts out. There is a reference guide on this sight I am just to tired to look for it but I have seen one on here.

which series of fusion amps? I have heard the low and mid quality ones, and for the money they are pretty good. I saw one of their "show cars" that only had their low end stuff in it, and it sounded great for the 350 bucks that you could have picked up the sub, amp, 6.5 componants and 6.5 coax's for. There was a 1200 dollar head unit in the car though...

Soundstream is pretty bad***, from what I hear. I'd rather have Soundstream than Phoenix Gold, even though they are alright.

The box's internal volume should be within 10% of what the manufacturer (of the sub) recommends.

Are you close to installing this stuff yet, or what? I know everyone is getting pretty tired of telling you the same stuff. I've noticed noone is responding to you anymore, hmm.

I appreciate the sentiment regarding the thread, but wow... that last post was REALLY uncalled for. Take a chill pill... That kind of attitude will make you NO friends, REAL fast on this particular forum. Take it over to caraudio.com.

Nobody has said ANY of your questions were stupid, now have they? You continue to post, and it's been two weeks now, and you have not yet made a decision. All I got from jmelton's post was interest in what you might be thinking, and/or a possible timeframe... I got no venom or attack at all. You've been given quite a few options, and you continue to come back with counter-options. I know you really want to save a few dollars, but I've been following the thread, and you've been given some top-notch ideas, as well as opinions.

I'm not going to say anything more than that, but that attack wasn't necessary, at all.

So... thank you and i appreciate everyones help .i will make a decsion from what information i have now. You wouldn't be the first person that did buy a bunch of stuff, ask if it was good, get told no, and then try to convince people with 20 years of experience that the flea market special was better than all of the suggestions...five pages into a thread.

I am glad that you are not one of those people.

Good luck getting the system up and running, and post some pics!

I hope to wire it up to 2Ohms. So i should be wiring the voice coils in parallel. Oh and does anyone have any experience with these amps? I heard it at Bestbuy and thought it sounded pretty good on an 10. They had it runnin on 8G power and ground though (which i dont think is big enough) The amp is rated at 600rms @ 2ohms. Any recommendations about how to run this amp or any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
