I have a 92 caddy sts with the factory bose system. It sounds ok, but I want to upgrade. the front speakers are 4" and have their own box. I dont want to modify the car in case I decide to sell it, then I can just set everything back to factory. I am thinking of making a fiberglass mold of that box so I can be sure it fits in the car.

I know that there are alot of variables when it comes to matching speakers and boxes, but generally what is a good volume to start with when I build it? Should it be sealed or ported?

I am more into SQ than SPL, so I want to do whatever will sound the best. By the way I have the Infinity Refrence 6010cs componants.

Thanks for the input.

I wouldn't put those in any kind of enclosure. They are designed with (effectively) infinite baffle in mind.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

The other problem is, there are no mounting points for it. Should I just screw them to the door panel?

Here is where you will be tested, regarding YOUR installation and fabrication skills.

I've never been into an STS, so I can't say what kinds of challenges await you, but most likely, you will be doing SOME kind of fabrication in glass.

If you can manage it, mold the FRONT part of the OEM speaker pods so you can use the original attachment points. As I said, you probably wouldn't want to put your speakers into an acutal "enclosure". I'd leave the back open.
