so i had a enclosure built(i have no carpenter skills)was 200.00..downfire 1cf per sub put it in trunk up front now have major cancellation issues..prob the worst ive ever heard,or not heard!!.anyway moved to the rear of trunk and of course its slams hard very responsive
quick and clean..but i would like to have some trunk space,i have looked everywere on the net and have found not one example of what i want to do
with 4 subs.armrest hole has been cut out, prob 10" x 8" hole behind the armrest.i want to have a box built 2 10"s on each side firing into one common chamber in the middle(two boxes joined together by chamber running up the middle) then sealed into the armrest hole each sub will have its own airspace.does anyone see anything wrong with this???or for that matter anything right???4 infinity 1032's(reference)..if i have a good seal from chamber into cabin will this be enough.will it act like a bandpass?will i lose my "clean, hard, response"
any help is greatly appreciated!!!!dont want to keep spending $$$ on trial and error..also would like any technical data as to the enclosure and how it should be built..

Yes, you will get bandpassing happening. It may or may not work to your advantage or pleasure, but it will "bandpass". You won't be able to ask WHAT the results will be empirically, though, as everything and ANYTHING you do, with respect to the tiniest change in volume (per woofer, or even the common chamber volume) or port will affect it. You'll just have to have it built, and hope for the best.

Technically I see nothing "wrong" with doing what you are suggesting, though.

Why spend money on "trial and error"?  Either take the vehicle to a pro car audio shop in your area and get the installation you want done correctly, or if you want to DIY download the proper software (like WinISD, for which a great tutorial is posted as one of our stickies) and properly design your own enclosure.

well, what type of box would this be??bandpass?and going to a "pro"
would totally dismiss what this forum is all about....so i'm here utilizing this sight to my advantage,as it should be used.i am just looking for others' past experience, maybe someone has built a box like this or has seen one like this...the enclosures for the subs will be sealed.each enclosure will be at manuf. specs my issue is going to be the chamber and how it will perform firing 4 10's into an 8" x 10" chamber the length of the 2 boxes...

I don't know where you got the idea that this forum is only about DIY.  I think if you read through some threads and look at some profiles you'll see this forum has more members who are professional installers and shop owners than probably any other car audio forum, and one of our typical suggestions to someone like yourself who wants to do something non-standard and who is having trouble is to seek professional assistance from someone in their area.  I stand by that suggestion.

Using multiple woofers can be very difficult, especially when using more than 2.  There are a lot more things to consider than simply how big the box needs to be,  It sounds to me like you would benefit from consulting with a pro face-to-face.  Or if you wish, keep building random boxes and go for trial and error, it's up to you.  MDF is cheap.

so what your saying is you wouldnt try something new?i guess i'm just way offbase and shouldnt try to think out of the box (no punn).nobody has ever seen anything like what im describing??so if there are professionals here that have not tried something like this or heard of then i dont understand the reasoning for driving around town finding someone that claims they have built or designed something like described..all i'm looking for is some knowledge there has to be 100's of years of knowledge on this board.i need help i'm not quite as ambitious as i was 20 yrs ago.i work 12-13 hrs aday. i get 2 days a week to myself.36 yrs old and enjoy my music to the fullest.i just need someone to tell me "hey, i built one before"and what results they had achieved, good, bad.car audio has advanced so much since i was a kid,the technical end is just astounding.that being said,i live in las vegas does anyone know of a shop that has the knowledge i need to complete this task?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I think that was an insult... I would feel offended, that is if I took anything personally from people I don't know...

If not meant as an insult, I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

It sounds like you are going to have to find a place to have it built anyways by your first post in this topic. Do some searches on the net and you are sure to find something local to you especially being in a big money city...
