Subject: recommended amp for kicker s12 l7s
Date Posted: October 22, 2007 at 11:21 PM

I just bought 2 brand new kicker s12 l7s and i am not sure what amp would be sufficient.  I currently have an el cheapo pyramid 1000 watt that was given to me by my insurance company when my car got broke into, it was used to push some cheap mtx 12s and it did the job well.  Now that i have the 2 solo barics i am not sure what amp would be right, the box will be built to the kicker specifications for a ported box. I tried searching but i was unable to really find a definant answer.  I am looking for something that is  no to expensive 200 to 300 dollars but im am unsure so any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah im sorry i forget to mention they are 2ohm dvc.  I was looking into a hifonics 1606 d which is rated at 1600 watts rms, whcih is more then enough for the rms rating on the subs, im not sure because i do not know much about hifonics.  Are the hifonics amps pretty honest about power numbers and such

Hifonics are decent. I had sold a few and never had an issue.
well you can run them 1 ohm or 4 ohm. The amp you choose will have to be able to run the load. If you found the Hifonics then check all specs and decide what will give you enough power but not too much that you might blow subs.

Kicker zx1500 is the perfect match, but out of your $300 budget.   If yo9ur gonna buy expensive subs, you will need an expensive amp to push them right.

thanks ill look into the kicker 1200.1 as of right now im leaning towards the hifonics because it is almost the perfect rms rating for the subs, and it has the options that i would need for the correct ohm load on the amplifier

another quick qestion if i am runnign the voice coils in parrel i should get a 1 ohm load on each sub, i can then run the subs in series to each other to have a total of a 2 ohm load runnign to the amplifier
