Some brief history: Just bougt a seviile, and I'm putting the cd player in the glove box and 2 12" in the rear... After getting everyting installed and set-up I found that my car has the bose system with an amplifier on each speaker. I was told I need to re-wire everything and replace the speakers. I obviously have to replace the speakers, so... I guess I'll just rewire everything and put another amp in the trunk and run the speakers off it with an eq in the front by the cd player...
This is the part where I get a little lost... I havent done this stuff in a couple years, and I want to make sure that I get everything right... If I get all 4ohm speakers, What amp should I get? I've read about a few of them and it looks like they are all 4 chanel at 2ohm can I still run 4ohm speakers off them? I'm not looking to go too pricey, but a decent sounding set-up... And also does anyone know a way to go around replacing every speaker on this bose system? Thanks,

Zach, most if not all 4 channel amps have a few specs on the box. They have power rating for both 4 ohm and 2 ohm output. Just look at the RMS 4 ohm rating seeing that you are not going to be bridging the channels. As far as getting around the Bose system , you can leave the Bose speakers in there and disconnect the (+) & (-) speaker terminals from the amp and re-wire the speakers to the new amplifier. You still retain the speakers but when you take the door panel apart and see the Bose system you will understand that it's going to be a big job regardless of which route you take. The speakers are built into a Bass-reflex enclosure which makes the 4 " speakers sound like 8" subs.

I was told those speakers run at 4 ohm... I know I wont be able to use them on my aftermarket cd player (Pioneer... After I bought it I found this site and found out they have noise issues). Can I use the 8ohm speakers with an aftermarket amp without issues, or should I get a crossover and all that... I have the pioneer deh5900... I dont really understand the ohm thing and how it works I guess... Sorry for my noobness... Thanks in advanced... This site rocks!
