I have a set of 12" Eclipse sw7200 which are rated at 500w RMS, and needs a .5-1.5 cu ft box sealed or 2 cu ft box ported.
I also have a set of JL 10" 10w3v2 which can go up to nearly 500 watts (don't know the exact numbers) and needs a .625 cu ft box sealed or 1.125 cu ft box ported and tuned to 33.7 HZ.
I'm trying to decide which set to go with for decent bass in an 07 Dodge Ram quad cab. The box I can get for the Eclipse is 1.8 cu ft sealed and the boxes for the JL's are 1.8 cu ft, ported and tuned to 35 Hz. or a 1.7 cu ft sealed.
The reason I'm asking about it is because I know that generally a 12" will hit harder than a 10" but I've heard that the Eclipse subs are good for tight bass but don't hit too hard while JL's can pound. A friend had these exact subs and managed to blow out his back window in his truck.

edit* after rereading it, it sounds like I'm answering my own question, but my friend had a different size box on his JL's (I don't remember the specs on it) so I'm asking which one I should go with out of the boxes I have to choose from.
