I used to have a pioneer deh 4800MP and is a great unit. But changed it for the 2900MP. Now both have this really odd hiss. Is mostly between song, or rather when there is no noise? More like a noise from the cd spinning? is not the RCA, since I unplugged them and only happens into the inside speakers that are powered off the head unit? I thought was the ground and made additional ground over the one from the harness. Any other ideas? I got the metra plug and play connections and it still does it.

It's probably the Pioneer head unit.. If you search the forums, you can see a lot of posts about pioneer hissing... Search and you'll read about grounding your rca's or it could be a bad ground on your amp...

Is the noise VERY LOUD or just an aggrivating hiss that you have to struggle to hear?

How can the RCA affect the inside amp?  Is not the RCA that make the noise is the harness going to the inside speakers... I even took out the RCAs from the sub and played like that and still did it.

The noise is not loud, is more like anoying.  But is quite obvious...between tracks when the sound starts on a low volume, when there is some pause, in AUX mode.

In AUX mode?  Using what as a source, an iPod?  If so, that's the problem.  If it makes the noise playing a CD in the HU, it's the HU.  Pioneer sucks for sound quality.

the same noise is under any source mode?  am/fm/cd/mp3/aux... more obvious when in AUX mode while nothing connected to it.  You can hear the same noise over all the sources but since the volume is up you can not tell unless you pay really close attention?  Should I get another deck?

BTW.  My head unit works even whent the car keys are not in the ignition.  I told them to wire it like that... Could that cause these problems?

No, that should not create the noise.

Yes. You'll probably be much happier with a decent deck anyway... As the second from the bottom in the Pioneer entry level line, you probably paid more than it was worth, even if you DIDN'T pay the SRP of $120.00

Even the higher-end Pioneer head units are notorious for noise issues, both inboard, and (most especially) on the RCAs.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

You already have a second thread going for new HU purchase suggestions, so I will close this one.
