A friend of mine has 2 w3v2's behind his seat. He has a premier headunit, alpine mrp-m650 amplifier. The problem is that when you turn it up, the subs cut out. The amp doesnt go into protect and the door speakers still play....At first i thought it was a problem with his ground but we grounded else where and we're still having problems. An installer at my work said it might be something about the RCA's but im not sure. you can play the music all day with the volume set to about 35. As soon as you hit 36 it cuts out. The gain is only at 3 clicks. I tested the wires right at the amp and it read 14.4.....what could be the problem????? can anyone help me?...

If the subs cut out it could be the rcas or it could be the wiring in the sub enclosure . When the radio is turned up wires that aren't connected tightly when come lose. Are you subs on a seperate amp .

the wires in the enclosure are soldered...what do you mean about the RCA's?....is it just a bad wire?...or the terminals are bad?...

if the wires in the box are  soldered then check the rcas add a new  set of  rcas and see what happens. i doubt its the speaker box termianl unless the springs on them are old unless its not spring loaded. but most of the time its a loose connection.

Turn the gain all the way and see if it still happens. The gain may just be too high.

When you checked the voltage at the amp, was the amp playing at volume 35?   What load is the amp seeing?   Do you have all 4 voice coils wired in parallel?  What ohm coils do the speakers have?   There is a missing designation on the description of the woofers.  W3v2-D#     the missing number will tell you what ohm the coils are.  What is the minimum load of that amp?

the gains is at 3 clicks..its barely above minimum, and they are w3v2-d4...the minimum load is is 2 ohms on the amp...and i have them wire to 4...
