Does any one have any experience with these drivers? i think im gonna try and sell my 12w7 and im looking for a good replacement. or should i stick with the jl? im more into sound quality rather spl, but i do like to have both. any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Both very high quality woofers for the money, they should have more output than the W7 with around the same SQ. The W7 is way overpriced for what it does.

I run the rl-p 15's and am quite happy with them. The customer service is second to none which is always good. I must say you are just a little late for the rl-p cause the price took a hike along with the tcsounds stuff (whom soundsplinter gets their motors from). Still a great value though. I've always heard good things about the Fi stuff as well. If you want to be really unique check out the soundsolutionsaudio.com icon driver as well. As a side note, and keep in mind i have virtually no experience with the w7, i'm not sure the rl-p is going to drastically outperform the w7 in any way just from reviews and things i've seen online. If you're just bored and looking for a change it would be worth giving them a go for sure though. Hell you might be able to get a new rl-p with money left over after selling the w7 too.

I'm not too familiar with Fi, but I know Soundsplinter makes a fine sub along with being a great company. The W7 will have lower distortion than anything they have, but output should be similar. The W7 was designed to get the best performance possible with no reguard to price. It utilizes machined parts and expensive tooling to achieve that goal, hence the high price. Sure you can make compromises get close to the same performance in a cheaper woofer, but some people don't want compromise; they want the best. There is a reason why the W7 is the reference people compare subs to. So, what are you trying to achieve by making this change? Are you sure changing the subwoofer will get you what you want? Maybe a different enclosure might be a better way to go. Anyway, if you still are looking to change subs, then I will also suggest looking at this sub: https://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?cPath=24_93&products_id=653 It will have the same super low distortion and output capability as the W7, but with a MUCH lower price tag. The downside is that it's not as "pretty" as the W7. Another difference is that it trades enclosure size for efficiency.

really im just bored with it. i kinda like messing with other drivers and such, so i think it would just be plain fun to see what i can do with another sub. plus, everyone knows what a w7 is, and are kinda used to seeing them. i like the shock and awe effect when people see something they never even heard about, and if it sounds good, thats a plus! and if i wanted it to be pretty, i would get a sub with tons of chrome and flashy lights, so thats not really a concern.
Isnt the Shiva an adire audio sub? i thought all hope of getting one of their drivers was lost in the wind. and at that price, thats freakin amazing! at 165 dollars + shipping, which is about 20 bucks, i might just keep the w7 for a home audio project!
do you have any recommendations on enclosure size? i like building both a ported and a sealed enclosure to see which i like better.
i cant actually use win isd because i dont have a pc at home, just the one here at work, so any extra work that you guys put in is definitely appreciated.

Unfortunately Adire Audio is no more. Exodus Audio was one of Adire Audio's OEM's, and now Dan is still working with them on designing some of their product. The ShivaX is basically a Brahma with Shiva parameters. They decided to use the Shiva name as it is what put Adire Audio on the map, and of course Dan gave them permission.

I have an RL-p 18. Bought it on a whim, met up with Mike (owner of soundsplinter), actually he met up with me since he came to my work. Very nice guy might I add. The SQ on this driver is awesome. I used to have a DD 9515 and wow, such an improvement, I mean insanely better. It gets fairly loud as well and I have it in sealed 5 cube enclosure (stupid Accord trunk). They'll easily take more than 1k. I was feeding mine about 1.5-2k. This 18, is as accurate as my 10" Focal 27A's and much more accurate than some other smaller drivers. However, for the 18, I wouldn't necessarily go with the specs that are listed on the Soundsplinter webpage. I have a friend (two actually) who on the original RL-p's (slightly different design), but they are the first to have an 18" TC9 driver. Minimum sealed is 5 cubes, but 7 would be much better. Ported, at least 7 cubes, but optimal would 11 cubes. I let someone listen to it, they didnt know what it was but they said it sounded much better than their two 13W7's and got louder as well. Low end is insane might I add, I just wish I had an SUV to get the full potential out of this driver.
