Hey everyone... I'm stuck with a small dilemma for my Kenwood Woox KSCWA62RC amplified subwoofer. I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R with the Rockford Fosgate Premium system. I ended up bypassing the stock amp in the trunk of the car. In the car's wiring harness, there are two power wires that powered the stock amp. The fuse in the fuse box is rated at 20A. They are both +12v at all times.

My Kenwood Woox has two smaller power lines that are spliced in to one thicker wire and is fused at 15A. I was wondering if I can cut the Kenwood's wiring harness and connect each of the power lines to the other two lines that was used to power my stock amp (instead of running a power line all the way to the front of the car). I just don't want to over stress the stock wiring. Do you think I can get awy with using the stock wires? Or is it better to run a wire to the battery?

The Kenwood Woox is rated at 12A max power consumption. I don't know why the Kenwood unit has two power lines spliced in to one. I know they just need 12 volts constant. TIA

Jason

If your stock wiring is fused at 20 amps and the add-on is fused at 15 amps, you can safely power using the installed 20A circuit.  I am not familiar with your Kenwood add-on so I don't know why there might be two wires, especially if they are spliced into one harness.  What does the owner's manual say about it?

The manual does not go in to detail as to why the Kenwood unit has one power line that splits in to two different wires. The only thing I can think of is that there are two amplifier units built in to the Kenwood unit (left and right channels?).

I cut the harness and split the power wires on the Kenwood so I can wire each power line on the Kenwood with the two individual power lines on my car's stock amp wiring harness. I fused them both at a lower level to protect the wires.

Thanks for your help.

Jason
