I am installing an after market amp in my '02 F150, but I can't find what wire to connect the remote wire to. I am using the factory head unit. Please help.

big boss man
Typically this wire needs to see 12V+ when the head unit is turned on. The remote turn on lead is usually a blue with white stripe wire on most aftermarket head units and can be connected directly to the factory amplifier's turn on lead.
In some cases, the factory amplifier turn on lead requires a ground to turn the amplifier on. If this is the case, connect an SPDT relay as follows:
30 to ground
85 to ground
86 to remote turn on lead from your head unit (usually a blue with white stripe wire on most aftermarket head units)
87 to negative amplifier turn on leadTypically this wire needs to see 12V+ when the head unit is turned on. The remote turn on lead is usually a blue with white stripe wire on most aftermarket head units and can be connected directly to the factory amplifier's turn on lead.

Uhhhh, he's putting a aftermarket AMP to the factory DECK. I don't believe that deck has a remote turn on. You can either use the switched lead on the OEM stereo or buy a signal sensing turn on unit like the PAC TR-4.

There is no such thing as free installation!
yeah but the swtched lead is still going to have to see a 12 v+ when the head unit is on
Please reread all posts.

I put in a lot of amps. On ford's with factory head units becuse people don't wanna loose their cd changer if u have a meter u can find the wire in back of the factory head unit juz tap in to it ,when I've done it its usually the black wire with the red strip but please check and meter first.
