Which is better to get, if you have speaker that holds 350 rms, and your choices are 300rms or a 400rms amp, which would you get, and why, price is very close...Thanks!

But wouldnt the underpowered amp run under slightly more strain than the overpowered one?

If you know what you're doing you're better off to get the 400 wrms amp but you have to be overly careful setting it up so as not to overpower the speaker. This would be better if you were to upgrade at some point and needed the extra power. It may also help the amp because it won't be running full tilt (if you set it up correctly) and may stay cooler and last longer.

No. Either would be under the same amount of "strain" since they'd each be loaded the same way. The power rating of a woofer has nothing to do with how much load it places on an amp. Only the impedance does that. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Given your limited description, the sub is suitable for either amp. There is not enough of a difference to sweat the issue. Brand quality of the amplifier should be your primary consideration in this case. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Well it's actually the same amp line/brand, it's just the two power levels. It'll be pushing a 10" Beyma P.A. Yea I'll probly just go with the 400wrms amp for resale purposes, I'm sure you know all the kids that are like, "how many watts is that amp?" -umm 400 wrms, "Ha! my Pyle Preditor is 4000 watts!" -yea but it's really only 350 rms? Drives me wild!!
