Looks like your trying to buy and build an entire system on a very very very small budget. $600 or so? I would start and build 1 piece at a time, with quality better name equipment.
POssibly start with a battery, Big 3 upgrade, with a nice eclipse or alpine deck, with some 6 1/2 component sets in the front doors. (yes they will fit, I owned a 86 CRX for awhile and now have an 88 and a 90.
Start with good quality equipment and build up. If you cant afford to do it all at once with a strong budget. Dont buy flea market brand equipment just to get it all at once

Agreed. Build piece by piece for maximum joy.
Hey well I think we all started some where, and if that's all u can afford then go 4 it, but I would at least try to get 1 thing good quality like the head unit because you can always upgrade everthing 1 thing at a time.

WELL?
I don't know why folks are so down on pioneer head units. Now, I think betting a higher model one than the 3900 would be well worth the money. 1st gen CRX's (84-87) do take 5 1/4's stock in the doors, so easiest is replacing them with a nicer 5 1/4, be carefull with the 6 1/2's, as magnet space becomes difficult....even in second gen crx's.....BARELY got my focals to fit in there, & not hit the factory cover.
Maybe look for a Pioneer 6800, or $$$ being an issue, look for a nos (new old stock) 8600.
Memphis has some nice door speakers, that are decently priced, & aren't hugely overbuilt.
For amps, check out the Zapco iForce line.
As stated before, do your best to keep away from flea market crap. In the end you will spend more, & have more problems along the way.
