i have an orion 250 HCCA  amplifier and wanting to Run 2 x 10" subs that are dual 2 ohms  voice coils, which have a power handling of 250w rms per driven voice coil what is the best way to hook it up for this amp for mono stability? 1 ohm stable of mono?

cheers

These are your 2 choices.     I don't know how old your amp is, but the Older ones were only stable down to 2 Ohms.  The 225 was 1 Ohm stable

Option 1 (series/parallel) = 2 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono

Option 2 (series) = 8 ohm load
All voice coils wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

Actually, the original (as in first and second generation) HCCAs were 1/2 ohm stable, and in the case of the 225, I PERSONALLY ran one bridged into 1/2 ohm, for .25 ohm per channel. By the time you get to loads like that, though, you'd be well advised to have an ET replace your amplifier's stock OEM power and ground with at least a #8, and you'll be needing forced cooling.

Four 2 ohm voice coils will allow you a .5 ohm, 2 ohm, or 8 ohm load for the amplifier to be bridged to. The series/parallel option posted above will be your best bet, I'm thinking. That will give you a one ohm load per channel, perfectly safe for that particular amp, any generation...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
