Because of where my front stage is being mounted I have a concern about reflective surfaces were the left and right front midranges and tweeters are going to end up. I have plans for them to be mounted behind the dash out in the fenders. I plan on use Dynamat extrem but that has a foil suface. And it is the foil suface I'm concernd about. The underside of the raw fender would be painted metal anyways. I guess I could follow Home theater practice but I have concerns with space and wieght and the fact that its in a car. The area in concern is ruffly cylindrical. I am toying with the idea covering this area with sweude. I would like to get input from the folks at this forum. Remember that this dampaning is for the Mids and highs only as the mid-bass and woofers are in different locations.

Yes, I've used that kind of foam and it is a really good dampening product. It's down side is it must be used in a protected area as it's not very rugged. I'd use it over the dynamat.

Support the12volt.comThats the rub. If I put a mesh panel in where the inner fender used to be then looks and protection are not an issue. I don't know yet I I'm going to do that untill I can hear how it will effect the sound. OF course with Dutz fasners they would come out easily for judging...
I deffinately want to deaden and reduce the refelections as much as I can. I feel that it is going to be one of the challenges I will have to face by going this route of speaker placement.
