ok i hqave a 2 channel amp. and 2 10" subwoofers at 400 watts my amp can do 480 watts at 2 ohm.

Q: do you add the 400 watts x 2 = 800 watts or is it just 2 =400 watts subwoofers. im not sure wich! do i wire it mono or do i wire it like 1 channel for 1 sub and the other channel for the other sub. the subwoofers are DVC type

Amp

Alphasonik cha150

Subwoofer

Alphasonik psw410

2nd Q:

i have a volt meter and a bass volum control both of wich have a rj11 type connector. but its not a rj11. they are smaller. i have contacted alphasonik. but they couldnt tell me what type .. they did say its a tiffny style.4 wire .. i have chwecked at radio shack . no luck..

thanks in advance steve

Are you sure about the model # on the amp?? I can't find anything on it.

As for your speakers, they are both 4ohm DVC's so you can either wire each sub to be 2ohms or 8 ohms, then connecting both to 1 ch of the amp you will either get a 4ohm load or a 1 ohm load.

Can your amp handle a 1 ohm load?

What are the specs on it is it 1ch, 2ch?? is the 480w @ 2ohms per channel or for a single bridged channel?

at a 2 ohm load your amp will produce 480 watts x1 mono, if you run one channel to one sub and one to the other, you will be getting 240 watts to EACH sub at 4 ohms. just make sure you wire your subs paralell if you go to 2ohms :)

and also .. to get the most out of this amp. wiring it paralell  is this both coils wired mono?. coz im really wanting to get the full 480 watts. to both sub. more power .. hehe i just dont want to be under watts. coz i think that would be bad too right?i may end up buying another amp. i would like to see 400 watts to each speaker. thanks in advance

yes, wire the positive from the amp to the positive of one voice coil on one sub , and then to the positive of the same voice coil on the other sub. do the same with the negative, from amp to one vc then to the other vc. that will give you a 2 ohm load = 480watts to each sub = getting the most out of your amp.

Well if yours is right below this one then I am guessing yours would run the following:

75x2 @ 4ohms Stereo; 135x2 @ 2ohms Stereo; 225x2 @ 1ohm Stereo; 292 x1 @ 4ohms Mono; 480x1 @ 2ohms Mono; 550x1 @ 1ohm Mono

I would run both the subs @ 2ohms, which is done by hooking both + terminals on each speaker together and both - terminals on each speaker together, then run both speakers parallel to the amp to give you a 1ohm load on a mono channel.

how would that give you a 1 ohm load? he has dual 4 ohm voice coils, parallel would be 2 ohms.

Simple Math lol

He has 2 4ohm DVC subs, so you are looking at a total of 4 4ohm coils, 2 per speaker.

If you wire the 2 4ohm coils on speaker 1 in parallel, and the 2 4ohm coils on speaker 2 in parallel, you will now have 2 2ohm speakers. If you run both speakers in parallel to the amp you now have a 1ohm load on the amp, this would get the max power out of the amp.

okay, sorry 01trublugt,  you were right, i didnt know his amp could handle a 1 ohm load. So viperxp45, you would go positive and negative from amp to vc 1 one 1st sub, then to vc 2 on the same sub, then to vc 1 on the other sub, then to vc 2 on that sub. that will give you a 1 ohm load, taking full advantage of your amp :)

You 2 guys are awsome thank you.. Do you think it would be nice to add another amp.. like  1 amp for 1 speaker .. and 1 amp for the other, .i would love to get 2 -12" and 2 more amps. well that would make 3 all together.. im going to do this as soon as i get the feed back. money is no object.. i just want a bad ass competion set up .then i suppose ill get the caps for the amps too . .i have 4-alpines SPR17ls 350 watrt woofers in the doors. seperate tweeters, remote volt meter and bass controller. in a ford 150 truck 1996. I cut the back out of the truck and made provessions for the boxes.. as im a sheetmeatal worker. sounds really good but i have to enter this awsome truck and sound system soon.

Im using the alpine unit for the alpine speakers as far as watts. what you think..

I would advise you to get 2 12" DVC's, and just get one big amp and run them at 1 ohm, bcuz depending on wut subs you get, if you run an amp to each sub, you will most likely only be able to run them at 2ohms, unless you get jls. but I would go that route, i think youd be more happy, and less clutter in your trunk.

Well Caps are worthless, nothing more than a "slight" band aid to a bigger problem. Look into upgrading the big 3 and if needed add a second battery to the mix.

I would not drive them off of seperate amps, I would not run 2 10's and 2 12's go with one or the other. Remote volt meter really is nothing more than a gadget and will not help your system one bit.

Not sure what type of comp. you are planning on entering, not to be an ass in any way but if you need someone else to tell you how to wire your subs to get the most out of your amp, you might want to consider a bit of reading up on different types of comps., going to a few as a spectator and check out what other people are doing, and running as well.

Sound dampning comes to mind here, might want to consider looking into some as I know my 97 rattled its *** off so I can only imagine a 96 would do the same.

There is alot more involved with competeing than throwing a bunch of gear into a car and pulling up to the line. Box design, speaker selection, power levels, ect..ect..
