Just a question... You can't drive right?  Then why do you have a car?  Getting prepared I guess?

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

Not a bad idea to start so young! Keep going on that system and show us whats up when you get it completed. By the way, I didn't get my first vehicle until I was 18, so consider yourself lucky. Please try not to go to places like Best Buy! This will be your first lesson.... If your going to buy speakers, subs, amp, HU, etc.--go to a car audio dealer.ALWAYS! If you want a nice tv or a cool mp3 player then go to Best Buy. lol

Yeah Best buy is not the greatest place for sure... They sell my subs at best but but i did not get them there they were like twice as much there HAHA! when it gets a little Warmer out since i dont have a garage i am gonna go install my 50 leds somewhere i kinda have ideas but im gonna put 2 more 10's in there Im already ready to. i got my friend to help me build my first box so i can get an idea of how it all works i know the basics i just never seen one really put togeather so im buying some materials and were building some boxes. Then i can sell them to whomever or just keep them for another time. "If you can't figure it out One way, Finger it out another" it's true... thanks for all the encouragement!

i wouldnt dare do something like that but yeah i understand id take a honda prelude over any car out here alsong as its nice a clean then i could customize it myelf..........about how much money is needed to make a custom sub box?

Posted By: tbird9290
Date Posted: February 18, 2006 at 2:55 PM
it just kind of depends how big the box is? how many subs? if you want it ported or not? also depends on how much MDF is at your local menards. But around here i could make a box for 35.00 with plenty of MDF left over for somethin else. i think the sealed ones at like BB is like 100.00 so you would save money plus your can pick your own terminals and stuff.

Why did this tread turn into a Mustang bash? I drive one, I have had 5 of them and I love'em! Kinda nuts that they are everywhere now days, but I drive a 90 and they are not as common.

Anyway, I installed my first system when I was 15 and now at 28 I am still learning! Keep an open mind about what you are doing and test everything. That ground that you might think is good, might not be as good as you think! I just had that problem and I feel like an idiot for spending hours trying to find out why I was not getting my circuit to work!

Have fun!

It's not that i like mustangs jus theres to many of the new ones like 95 up i think. but i like the older ones the 66 is my fav. Yeah i almost double check everything. after i got my car painted i was driving my car back to my apt complex and i seen smoke rolling out of the passenger side so i disconnected the battery as fast as i could. and searched but it wasn't me. the previous owners left a hot wire under one of the plastic rear panels so yeah wasn't the funnest but atleast it didn't get to my computer.

I don't know why you want to get rid of the Jensen amp, that's good stuff!!! Just sell off the rest of the system and add a couple Jensen 6x9's and you'll have the pimpin-est ride around. posted_image

We all gotta start some where. I started with an Urban 4 channel amp (Kmart variety $50) and two MTX road thunder 12's. There was a sweet system! (said with a hint of sarcasm)

I might just get another jensen amp for now and throw 1 or two more 10's in im not sure yet.

Come on man, I wasn't totally serious. If you have it, fine. It'll work. However, if you're wanting to get another buy something that has quality for the buck. MTX amps are good for the money. Search the threads for other good brands (this subject has been mentioned a thousand times). Then be patient and look around for some good deals on ebay, etc. If you look around you'll find something with much better quality for probably the same price as the Jensen.

Also, buy clean watts. Don't be fooled when an amp says it puts out 2000watts for $100. I'd rather have the Zapco, Nakamichi, Memphis, Alpine, etc. putting out 50x2.

I know about the clean watts part but im not real into it all yet my cousin always buys Xtant JL Audio and I think he is putting Memphis in his now... im not all impressed with RF but 4 10's will do untill i save up for some alpines. But im working on it plus im not putting anything else in until i move outta this damn apt complex. Last time i lost the half back of my box and my back seat and my amp.(but it was a pioneer amp so no biggie i guess

Make sure you post some pictures of that stereo system soon! posted_image And please, please, please, please don't get anymore Jensen! If your that desperate, then I'LL make an amp for you!! Listen to what bogey said. There is plenty of decent car audio products out there for an affordable price. Jensen is not one of them!!!

True dat!!

Just to make sure we're clear. The point I've been trying to make, and wildkartunes, is not to chastise someone for having a limited budget. Rather, it is to say make smart purchases. In a world of ebay and SoundDomain, etc. one is no longer forced to live in the land of sub-par equipment. For about the same amount of money you can get a better quality amp. For instance, take a look at this amp by US Acousticshttps://www.cardomain.com/item/USAUSC2150B.
I would probably rather have the MTX, but this amp is still a decent amp with a warranty and money back guarantee. They also have some Kicker and Phoenix Gold Xenon amps in the $150 range that would be decent amps. Just be patient.

Another thing to consider is depreciation. An amp's resale drops in half the minute you take it out of the store. If you buy an amp used, however, when you go to sell it later on you won't loose as much money, perhaps none. This is best when you can hear it before you buy it.

nice job but its better to take the panels off, tape everything you dont want painted, and THEN paint them its a cleaner look. Hey don't get down about it being a T-Bird if its like the one I had when I was 15 it has a H.O. 5.0 same as a Mustang and there is a lot of after market parts for your motor.

P.S. I had a 1989 Ford Thunder Bird
