Hi, I'm new to this site and thought I'd say hi. I have a 2001 Camaro SS with a Eclipse CD5000 H/U, Polk db6750 components in front and Infinity Kappa components in the rear. I have a MTX Stealth Box with a SoundSplinter iRL10 sub all being powered by a Lanzar Vibe 531 5 channel amp.    ------------- Eclipse CD5000, Polk db6750,Lanzar Vibe 531,SoundSplinter 10" Sub

try reversing the sub. that means take it out and screw it in backwards. when u wire up positive and neg do that backwards too. it'll hit harder.

aruman you're right it doesn't but this box in this car is around .25 c feet. by turning the woofer around you subtract the displacement of the motor and also add the cone area wich makes it play deeper and louder. but only in boxes that are too small.

are you telling me that a .5 q box won't sound better than a .25 box?? listen closely the box that guy is using is very small. it's made to fit in a camaro/firebird in the side panel. one more time.....the box is too small. it will hit harder if the sub is reversed. the two guys that said it makes no differance are right only it the cabinet is the right size.

what the hell if the sub is inverted ie backwards you would have slightly more airspace (like 3 or 4 litres) and it might hit a little harder, but as far as reversing the polarity goes it wont make a difference

Here you go: Inverting subwoofers, gregory863 in some way you are right it might alter the response of the box, or change the tuned frequency of any ports, but not a huge difference. ------------- Shaking The Neighborhood

well guys we have to see if the guy with the car will invert the sub and tell us what difference he hears. by the way i looked up his sub box and it has .4 cubic feet. i bet if you calculate the displacement of the driver and the volume of the woofer cone, it will add up to at least .1 ft.. so adding .1 foot in this case(.4 box} means a 25% larger box! that will make a differance.

Reversing polarity does nothing to a sub in terms of loudness, the box space will make a difference, but by the looks with the Lanzar amp in the way it mite not be possible to invert the sub. Some people dont want max performance from their equipment, if it works for you and your happy with it then thats all that counts ------------- Clarion DB36MP
