Some time ago I snagged the trip computer, and over head console for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. However I have one of those "Shelf It" overhead shelf in my Jeep so I couldn't use the whole console. One day after tinkering around with the dimensions of the actual display I come to the conclusion that if I moved the single din aftermarket headunit down I could fit it in above the headunit. So here are come pics of the install.
First I modified the mounting bracket by cutting the bottom mounting tab off it so it would set as low as possible in the dash.

Then I cut a notch in the top of the bracket so the display could sit as low as possible.

Next I cut a piece of smoked plexyglass that will sandwich between the CD players mounting cage and the front of the mounting bracket.

Here is the three pieces laid out ready to go together.

What it looks like ready for the actual electronics to be mounted.

Here is the display removed from the actual trip computer circuit board.

Now all soldered back together.

Mounting the trip display to the mounting bracket.

Originally I mounted the circuit board to the top of the whole thing using a piece of bent scrap plexy so the compass would set level.

After realizing it wouldn't fit I desoldered the compass from the main board and glued it to the top level, and put the board on the side. with my iPod controller on top.

In the end a "cap" on the board wouldn't let it fit that way either. So I moved the circuit to the top laying flat with the iPod controler behind the glove box. One of the wires I used to divorce the display from the board has an open in so one of the display segments is interment, but other that that is seems to work great. One other thing is it's hard to see from the drivers seat because the trim bezel blocks your line of sight. I have thought of swapping the components places, but haven't messed with it as of yet.

Yes but its creative, and creativity is a lost art. Great work
