Someone previously posted that they successfully install an autostart on this bike.  How did you reduce the voltage to 8 volts?

What voltage needs to be reduced to 8 volts?

When remote starting a vehicle, basically all you are doing is duplicating the key being inserted and turned to the on position. And then turning the key to energize the starter is also duplicated. In your case you will duplicate the pressing of the start button. Since you will be duplicating turning the key on, I think that the ECU will be getting the proper voltage. Can you post a link to the info that says you need to regulate the voltage?

the ecu doesn't boot up if it recieves 12v. the key cylinder sends out 9v for the ecu.  Its a security feature so you can't "hot" wire it and steal it.  I appreciate your response... do you know how to do it?

If you can find out how much current the ECU pulls, this can be done with a few LM7809 regulators.

Or use an output to feed a relay across the ign. switch.

Good morning Howie, from what info I have gathered from him about this situation, I was assuming that there was a voltage divider network in the ignition switch. Do you know if there is a 9 volt feed to the ignition switch? It must be pretty simple to install a remote start on this bike. There are tons of used ones for sale with remote start units already installed. Only one post here that even mentions the 9 volt thing.

Good AFTERNOON Craig, just having a tea break from playing with my own Galant; the factory window closer glitches, switch up the driver's window, it hits the top and comes down again! It's cheaper to install a pair of 530's than to get the switch processor off Mits, about this bike, if there's 9v+ign  coming off the switch, is there 9v+ perm going in? If so just use the ign output from the remote to fire a relayfed from the  9v+ perm.  If not obtain the dropper or use a DC-DC convertor.

Diagram for W and X models

According to the above diagram, the ignition switch applies a ground signal to a wire on the ECU to turn the ECU on. You need to get a meter and test to verify that there is one wire on the ignition harness that is grounded. Turn on the key and there should be 2 wires that are grounded. The ignition switch is in the top middle of the diagram. ECU is top right of diagram. You may need 3 relays to duplicate what the switch does. Is there a plug that unplugs from the switch? Or a few inches down line of the switch?
