I am trying to run 8 speakers. I have 8 4 ohm 50 watt RMS 6x9's. With that many speakers what recomendation would you have in running them. 2 - 4 channel amps, 2 - 2 channel amps. 1 massive amp? I was running them on a single JBL 200 2 channel.. wiring 2 sets of 4 speakers in a 4 ohm load each and one channel blew out. It was underpowered and my power guage wires werent big enough. The bike will always be running when the radio is on and I have seen the electrical stator on Yamaha Grizzly 700 run some decent sound systems.
Please dont respond as to why I want 8 speakers on an ATV i just do and I am looking for some real suggestions on wiring/amp/wattage requirements.

That is a decision you will have to make yourself. You could use a 4 channel amplifier with each pair of speakers wired in series. This will yield an 8 ohm per channel load on the amp. This will probably be your most electrically efficient way to do it. If you do use the 4 channel amp and are not happy with the output level, wiring each pair of speakers in parallel will yield a 2 ohm per channel load. The amp will make it's maximum safe power in this configuration. But it will not be as efficient as running it at 8 ohms per channel. 2 four channel amps could be used wired at 4 ohms per channel, you could also put a switch on one amp to be able to turn it off when high volume levels are not needed. You could use 2 two channel amps wired at 2 ohms per channel and do the same thing with the switch. It really depends on how much you want to tax the charging system.
An 8 Ga, Wire should be fused at no greater than 100 amps. Let''s try and keep the fires to a minimum.

I was thinking that you told this guy to use a 150 amp fuse on an 8 Ga. wire. What exactly did I misread here? Was the 150 part supposed to be subliminal? When we help people here, we try to give accurate information. When we do not give accurate information, it defeats the entire purpose of this website. I was actually thinking about congratulating you on the info you posted about the Boston 1 Ohm capable amplifier. That was actually an accurate post.
