hi guys, i was wondering if any body could give me some advise?
i have a remote start and alarm combo fitted on my ninja, the unit is a krypton make and it is causeing me problems.when it was first fitted it was fine ...now the remote start wont work(the alarm still works, and the bike will start with the key) there are 23 relays fitted to enable it , most of these are to fool the motorbikes built in anti theft device and to bypass the the auto cut out conected to the side stand.
i think the relays are burning out as it has been suggested to me that the initial surge from the cdi unit is frying them . the alarm was fitted by pro's and they said at the time it may cause me problems , as i do not want to take it back to the shop every time it stops working do you have any suggestions as to what the problem could be and how (if possible)it can be fixed without replaceing relay after relay
i must stress i know little to nothing about electrics so any thing you can suggest to me will be passed on to my mechanic so he can sort the problem out so please use simple terms or something i can print and give to my mechanic
thanks for any help or advice you can give in advance:)
23relays?....... WTF..... go to a different shop

Uh, yeah. 23 relays is rediculous, how the hell do you fit 23 relays into a bike? It should take no more then 2-3 for remote start, 1 for starter kill, and 1 for the horn. Then for the immobilizer, they should have used a universal module instead of the rest of the relays.

I promise to be good.
Tell Darwin I sent you.
I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
thanks for your help guys, ill take it back to the shop and see what the score is with the 23 relays
I can think of 23 ways to tell them people they are out of there minds, or better yet 23 places they can go.
23 relays is definitely way too much. I built a remote start unit from scratch just using relays in the early 90s and I only used 7 total and that was safety circuits tied into the kick stand and nuetral saftey switchs. Now I do know that some of the Ninja circuits are not 12 volt and are actually 6 volt control lines but even still 23 relays is not necessary.

seeing the wiring diagram, for this, might prove amusing, at least. hehe. i was looking at some materials online for polarity switches for the locks on my opel, and the largest line up i saw was 7 relays. My store bought remote starter has 4 relays, with a 5th optional to bypass alarms...
