I have a 2 stroke quad, the stator has been rewound and can adaquetly push to 35 wat bulbs...it can push two 55's but thats kinda pushing it.  what I am wondering on how to do is run 2 h3 or h1 hid's.  I know I must convert it to DC, and I have seen a couple aftermarket rectifiers/regulators, but I have found oem stuff to be more dependable over the years (yes some may argue)  could I use any regulator/rectifier off just about any bike??? they all kinda do the same thing or am I mistaken??  any tips/ tricks, things to look out for?  I also have a relative who works for one of the big 3 and he can get me the 'boxes' for the hid's as he calls them...I belive this would be the ballast/starter...this would save a few $$ would it be compatible?? or are they fairly specific to the type and style of bulb??

are you running a total loss system (no battery)

if so the easiest conversion would be to fit a battery and a combined reg/rectifier to charge it

Go get the lighing coils for a TT XTYamaha, XR Honda etc. These bikes run 100+ watt headlights.
