not exactly car related but i figured someone in here would have some ideas. i am about ot purchase a 1975 suzuki rv90 dirtbike, whitch runs on a 6 volt electrical system. there is no electric start so the battery only handles the lights/blinkers as far as i know. what i would like to to is find a way to put a 12 volt battery in the bike and use some sort of regulator to reduce the voltage to 6 volts heading into the bikes harness. this way i can still use 12 volt accessories off the battery. is this possible? i dont mind using a battery charging unit instead of the bikes coil to charge the battery when its in storage. anyone have any ideas? here is a diagram of the harness if it is of any help

I'd just install a second 6v battery.  Tap off between them for the standard bike electrical system, but across both in series to run any 12V additions.

You'll fry the points and or condenser in it if you try running 12 volts to the whole bike.
