.. Three days in this one post. I picked up an old Nakamichi CD-350 from Craigslist. From 1997/1998. Prepping it to install in my 1984 Audi 4000s Quattro
Day one:
So I was able to boot up the CD-350 I recently got and lo and behold, when hitting source, it cycles to CDC for the changer!! No jumper or funky box needed! Wohooo..
That being said I went thru the Pins and found that Pin 5 on the 13 pin connector goes to the red wire for Right channel input from the changer and Pin 9 goes to the white wire for Left channel input from the changer.
Pin 7 appears to go the Ground for the input from the changer.
These three wires are shown in the pic below, towards the top, directly to the left of CN505 printed on the board.
I cut up a headphone cable I had, and confirmed glorious sound with no buzzing or anything!! Perfect!!!!
Tomorrow Im going to see if I can round up a 13 pin male cable and get to soldering some RCA inputs to it!
Day two:
Heres an image I drew up in photoshop indicating the wiring I found..
Enjoy!
Artwork by myself
Day three:
I took apart a "Gigaware" iPod car charger with audio out and wired the audio and power into a 13 pin connector housing I got at the local parts store.
I kept the chargers power converter and what not to keep the voltage at the iPhone/iPods 5v and I do believe it has the needed equipment to give the iPhone/iPod the "ok" to charge and play tunes.
Yeah its a bit ugly, but for Version 1 its not bad. And it will all be hidden behind the stereo so who cares!
