Multiple batteries for a boat system!

OK, I'm going to have 2 big amps in my boat, and I don't want them to cause me to be stranded in the middle of nowhere this summer!

So here are my questions:

Can I hook up 2 (or more) batteries directly to each other to prevent a fast drain? Can I do this? Will it burn up my amps? What about my alternator?

If that's possible, I also want to switch an extra battery via isoloator or a manual perko switch for "just in case". Which would be a better choice?

If you are worried about running out of juice on the lake then you should( in my opinion) use two batteries wired through the manual switch and that way one will power the audio and one will power boat. You could use an electrical isolator but that is just one more thing that could get wet and go bad. If you just want to add one more battery then wire two deep cycle batteries in parrellell.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

Check into a priority start system. If your battery drops to a pre determined voltage it disconnects the battery from the system to allow for starting. They are weather proof and available through a work van outfitter called "American Van". I am pretty sure they have a website.
