Does anybody know if  a Ford key will work to bypass the transponder in a Mazda cx7. I figure since some of the vehicles are pretty much the same it might. If anybody has tried this let me know....got one to do on monday. I'm gonna take a keyoveride sl2 just in case....so yes, i do know about data bypasses.  Thanks for any info.

I did one a few months ago and it's nothing like a Ford wire wise. In the UK we have Cat I alarms  Cliff Concept 650 with 2 immobiliser cuts so I ulilised the chip from the key, glued with acrylic to the antenna ring of ignition switch. You need to remove both chips because the second key's chip will then not be recognised. Removing the chips from the keys  is a nightmare, you have to do a relay interrupt (5wire) on the  motor leads going into the drivers door to control the locks ( I couldn't find any trigger wires) Direction indicator leads were found on each side by the rear side doors (the body manager appears? to be under one of the front chairs, it's all data up the front, remote start (Intellistart V) worked fine. To the best of my knowledge the Mazda 3 is based on the current European Focus, also Land Rover Freelander and Volvo V50, the Mazda 5 is based on the Ford Mondeo, but both the Mazdas have different engines and electrics, the Ford equivalents use Volvo T5 2.5 Turbo engines, the Mazda uses their own 2.3 Turbo engine etc etc.

Hmm, i was under the assumption the CX7 was a Ford Edge. If so it should take a 556Sw to bypass. I would like to know what you find out Monday....

Sorry, we don't have the edge and our Fusion is based on the little but lovely Fiesta so Mike M2 might be right.

Did the install this morning, and i wasn't able to get the key programmed so i just used my trusty keyoveride sl2. I didn't wanna screw with it too much and risk unprogramming the original keys. At least know i'm not gonna have any problems with it. The install itself was easy, probably the easiest car i've done in a long time.

Wanna hear something funny......the customer just called me in mid post, and said he's trading the CX7 in, and wanted to know how much it's gonna cost to put on the new vehicle. Easy money baby.
