Hello:

I had the above unit installed yesterday and everything seemed to work fine. Since this unit was for my wifes car I was concerned what would happen if she forgot to put the key in the ignition and attempted to drive. I was relieved to find that that tapping the brake without the key in the ignition turned off the engine, however doing that seems to have caused a problem. Now the R/M will start the car but the engine immediately dies and won't run until you start it with the key. I know I probably have to take the car back to the shop to get this corrected but I won't be able to get there for a few days. Does anyone know what happened and what has to be done to correct this? Most importantly is the car safe to drive, we are concerned the engine might cut off while going down the road. Thanks

The footbrake shutdown is a safety/security feature, but it won't (or at least shouldn't) reprogram or disable anything at all.......your wife didn't do anything wrong.

The remote starter's wiring is connected to the car's wiring, generally by stripping off some of the Hyundai's wiring insulation, connecting the remote starter's wire, possibly soldering, and then taping............the Hyundai wire is not cut, only opened up..........a failed remote starter should not prevent the car from operating normally with the key.

That's the best thing to do, is to bring the car back to the shop and have them correct their mistake. Any good shop will be eager to take care of this right away. A phone call before you go, might help them be ready to have you in and out more quickly.
