I am going to be installing a remote starter on my edge, I shouldnt encounter any problems there... Here is my question..
I have a few left over Audiovox/Code Alarm CAXK04 Transponder Bypass units for Ford. The material I have is from 2006, and I tried searching on audiovox's site, and on google, I cannot find an updated list of cars to know if the Edge's PATS system will work with this bypass.
If it will, can someone tell me these few things??
What type of PATS Connector will the Edge have.
What Color wire is the TX from the PATS system.
What Color wire is the RX from the PATS system.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Scott

It will be a small 4 pin connector at the ignition cylinder. I don't have the colors, because i've never payed attention to them, but this is the order of how they go. The first thing i do is test for the one wire wire in that plug that tests as ignition. That is pin 4, pin 3 is ground, pin 2 is tx data, pin 1 is rx data. So on the plug its...4321 in that order. -------------

I looked at the wiring information post about the 2007 ford edge, someone else made, it was closed so I could not add too it. Does anyone know the location and color of the tach wire for this vehicle?

On Fords I use the odd colored wire at a fuel injector for tach reference.

Do I need to update the firmware on this CAKX04 Unit for the edges PATS system? I tried several times to program this unit, and its not programming, I am not getting the LED to light up at all. So I tried resetting, holding the button in, then plugging in the harness, and the LED lights up and goes out, just like the directions say. I verified my wires, 12v ign. ground, TX and RX... just incase I had the TX/RX backwards, I switched them and tried reprogramming, no luck.
Also, if the firmware needs upgrading, I have the cable for the upgrade, but I do not have the adapter that turns the harness out of the unit into a USB plug, can I have someone upgrade this for me?
Thanks for any help.

Well after doing some searching, I found out that the edge is equipped with the new SecuriLock encrypted passive anti-theft system (EPATS). If I upgrade the firmware, will the unit cover this type of PATS?

So long as it has firmware PKF3 it should work fine. If it came preloaded with PKFORD 3.0 it might have issues. If you check bypasskit's website it shows firmware revision history. ------------- Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

This unit is over a year old, on the top it says FlashLogic, and just says PKFORD. Doesnt say PKFORD 3.0 or anything, how can I tell what firmware version I have?

Is there places to go that can upgrade the firmware for me? I just looked at the USB XKLOADER and its like $100, in that case I will just use a keybox, but I did not want to.

OK, i have had the bypass updated with firmware PKF3 1.0 which supports the Edge PATS 3 Securilock. Now when I plug the bypass in the LED light on the module stays lit and will not go out, after reading the instructions for the PKF3 version, its says the LED light will stay on until the unit has been programmed. Well for some reason the unit is not programming. I have tried reversing the TX/RX connection, no luck. Key 1 turned on until security light goes off, remove key, insert 2nd key to ON until security light goes off, remove key, and attempt to remote start to finish programming. All steps completed less than 5 seconds apart, the remote starter does nothing, and the bypass LED does not go out, like its not taking the program. Any thoughts? I have the bypass connected to the Active output of the RS unit like it should be, 12v cons., 12v ign, ground, TX, RX Am I missing something stupid? Thanks

Did you hook up the ground when running from the RS to the brown activation input?
First, I would try resetting the module. This is taken from the installation manual:"Reset the module
Press and hold programming button while plugging the module. When the LED comes ON, release
programming button. When the LED shuts, the reset is complete."
If you did connect the gwr (and you may have depending on how I read that quoted line) make sure that the bypass is getting all the proper connections at the right time. Use your DMM and test each connection, make sure you have ignition when you should, ground all the time, gwr when RS is initialized, etc.

Yes the Active output is connection to the ground when running input of the bypass module, the switched ignition is just that, the ground is secure and good, the 12v source is good, and I probed the pats connector, there is a ground, 12v ign, and 2 other wires, which means one is TX and the other RX, I have tried reversing the connection to make sure I didnt have it wrong, and no luck.
I have tried resetting the module, and when I hold the button in while I plug the harness in, the LED just stays off, and never comes on until I let go of the button.
