I'm wiring up a remote starter/Alarm on my g/fs car. It's a 96 Ford Taurus. Most of the install is pretty basic and I understand most all of it. However there are a few components listed in the manual that I'm not familiar with and looking for some info on where to find the wires for these. One of the wire leads from the brain is supposed to go to: Battery charging indicator, or engine oil pressure indicator, wire should be negative before engine start and positve after. I'm also not fully sure of the + Air Conditioner I'm guessing this means a postive wire to splice into the A/C controls so the AC or heater come on with the starter?

is it a generic unit off ebay? because only ( take no offence) cheap units use battery charing status aka voltage dectection that is wrapped around the alternator to sense electrical interferianc or noise. As for the oil pressure light, some cars, the pressure light is GROUND, and postive when the light has turned off. The unit uses the oil pressure sense because when a car is running, oil pressure msut be up, however some cars,t he light does not go out for almost 20 seconds. this will cause ur unit to think the car has not started and RECRANK which causes engine grind. TO make it simple, and it works, connect the wire to your ACC. when car has started, 12v will be shown on the oil pressure idnicator and unit will stop cranking. have installed 2 generic china units with this feature. sure unreliable, but it works.

Yes it is one of ebay deals. So far the quality of the unit seems good. Does not have a cheapy flimsy feel to any of the components, nice wring and plugs. Removes feel solid. Now when you wire it up to the ACC.. do you simply mean the ACC on the Ignition switch?

I'm just about all finished installing an ebay 2 way remote starter/alarm in my g/fs 96 Ford Taurus. I am having one major problem though. The alarm wants a hand brake (e brake is locked up on this car, not an option to use) or the alarm wants a neutral gear wire. This circuit is supposed to be grounded while the car is armed and must be grounded for the remote starter to function. Then it must lose the ground by some fashion after you get in the car and let off the e brake or put the car in gear. The parking lights will not stop flashing until the ground is broken. From what I understand this Taurus does not have the neutral gear circuit. So is there any way I can wire a relay or something so turning the key to the ON positon will take a circuit from ground to open?

It may help to know what kind of cheap EBAY item it is and is there not a positive brake wire to turn off the remote start?? if not wire a relay in to the brake (+) on pin 85 ground(-) on pin 86 and 87a and the wire in question on pin 30 ...............or just hook a switch to ground that you turn on to show the wire a (-) ground when you get out of the car get in turn the key forward and flip the switch off .................or if the brake doesnt work because it permanantly needs to be taken off ground (-) while the car is running your best bet is to wire a relay into the ignition wire with ign. on pin 85 of the above mentioned relay instead of the brake.............. Hope this helps

Is vehicle regular auto transmission? What model remote starter are you installing?
------------- The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

This is the one I purchased right here.. https://https://cgi./RV-boat-car-alarm-remote-starter-3-remotes-2-way-pager_W0QQitemZ220184431383QQihZ012QQcategoryZ94829QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem if you scroll down on the page it has the wiring diagram even. The wire at question is the Green wire to the hand brake or neutral gear wire. Also I checked the wire on the hand brake. It seems to always be grounded reguardless of the e brake position so that wont work.

neutral gear wire - on generic ebay start systems, they dont offer brake shutdown, but a countdown sequence or aka (anti hijack). well, the unit requires sumthing called an neutral gear wire which prevents the car from starting in gear. if its a manual, its not worth it to install because it may start in gear and hit someone. invest and purchase a manual safe unit. HOWEVER, if the unit is going into an automatic transmission car, just take the Ebrake wire and ground it. that way, the unit thinks the ebrake is on and will allow start.

Yes I grouned the wire and the starter system works fine. However until you release the gound wire, the parking lights will flash and car running shows up on the LCD. The car is an automatic, e brake is non functional. I just want a simple relay wired into the ignition switch that is grounded untill the ignition is turned to the ON position.

relay as follows... Pin 86: IGN.(+12v) Pin 85: and 87a: (-) ground Pin 30: Green wire in question. Then when you turn the key forward it will engage the relay showing your wire in question NOTHING.... CHEAPER than relay.... $2 toggle switch from radio shack that you turn on when you leave your car (shows it ground) like applying parking brake....turn it off when you get in your car and....no more ground let me know how good the unit is when your done i have a ton of people asking me about that exact one and all i can tell them is from what i hear Ebay junk IS junk

Thanks a bunch, for the relay would I use a SPDT or SPST relay? I thought about the toggle switch also before hand but just felt it would be an annoyance sometime down the road. Easy to forget or bump the toggle and if that happens the remote start wont activate at all. I'll be sure and give you a full run down of the unit as we get more time and use out of the unit. So far I can tell you the unit has beyond excellent range. I was inside of walmart, and the car was parked at the very back of the lot and still had no problem communicating with the remote. I also walked about 500 feet away with the car in a poll building (all tin) and it had no problem there either. The remotes feel pretty stout, and fairly well constructed. Wire and terminals on the brain box are of good quality.

SPST will do. no need for SPDT

you will infact need a SPDT as you will need 87a which is N/C until the relay is energized with the Ign. showing 30 (the wire in question) the nothing that is on 87 but i have thought further and realized that as soon as the car is started with the remote it will energize that relay which would then tell the system the parking brake is off and may turn it off again. you can figure it out without wireing it in by showing the wire ground when its in the "power up" mode by remote (which is when the parking lights come on just before the starter crank) which is when the Ign on the remote start will activate the relay if wired in like in original post and IF it turns off you can try to wire a SPDT with your third Ign. wire which may cause your car not to start in cold cold wheather. The info i have says the third Ign is for AC so.... it shouldnt affect starting in any ways.you would simply not attach the Ign 3 wire from the remote start and use the 3rd ign wire on the car (RED / black) to pin 86 on the relay then the relay will not be activated until you physically turn the Ign. ON with the key showing your third Ign. wire power thus activating the relay. But as i said in extreme conditions your car will need all 3 Ign. wires hooked up to function. Then again the unit probably has an option to start the car every 2 or 3 hours to prevent the car from freezing so that COULD help.... but thats a whole diff story hope i havent confused you like ive confused myself...
