I'm going to buy the XK05 from bypasskit.com. Do I need to also buy the "XKLoader", or is that just to flash new firmware, and not needed to install the XK05?

Thanks for any help.

You can buy the XK05 pre-loaded for whatever type of car you want, just make sure to specify when you buy it.

But you'll be there all day with that piece, running wires all over the place...I wouldn't waste my time.

The Fortin KEY-OVERRIDE-SL2 from www.ifar.ca is much more installer friendly.

You may also want to give a try with this one;

Can you buy and XpressKit module with whatever type of firmware you like?

In the product description, the XK05 is pre-loaded with Toyota/Lexus firmware. Any other type of vehicle needs to have the correct firmware of the XK05 flashed.

I bought an XK02 for my Accord, and now I am screwed b/c it is preloaded with Nissan firmware. I am going to have to go to a shop or something, and have some jerk rip me off to use a programmer. It isn't worth paying for it since I will only use it once.

If you go in there assuming he's a jerk and will rip you off, he probably will.

Just chat up one of the installers, and offer to run over to McDonald's or Dunkin' Donuts and get him whatever he wants from there......if he has a heart, he'll help you.

Or, just call whoever you bought the part from, and ask them to correct the error.

And yes, at least when buying from Trilogix directly, you can order the piece programmed with whatever firmware you want.....I'm not sure about other sellers, though.

You are right. At the Bypasskits.com Shop, you can order any Xpresskit with any firmware. The site is more expensive in general than other places on the net.

I bought mine form Buy.com, and they only offer the default firmware, so I might just return it. None of the local shops seem to have the XKLoader programmer. Most of them thought I was speaking a foreign language when I asked about it.
