Most nissans... two starter wires...

Just did a '99 Max, only split the 1st starter wire (for anti-grind) but once it's remote started, when I turn the key to crank, it still grinds.  However, the starter-kill works just fine when the car is armed (compustar 2wss-as).

Do I need to add a second relay to split the OEM 2nd starter wire as I did with the 1st starter wire?

what a p.i.t.a.....

I put this on paper & I think it will work fine. It's the simplest way to do it.

The starter wire is cut. Use a relay & hook up starter wire from ign. to both pin 30 & 86. Hook up starter wire to car & remote starter wire to pin 87a. Hook up - trigger when armed, from alarm to pin 85. Also hook up remote start - out when running to pin 85. Diode isolate both wires going to pin 85, with lines on diodes facing away from pin 85.

You should still isolate the 2nd starter wire after you do this. Let me know if you need info on that.

I appreciate the feedback -- the 1st starter wire is appropriately isolated and relay-ed for starter-kill and anti-grind....

however, I think I'll need a second relay for the SECOND STARTER WIRE... anyone who knows please chime in.. thanks

You should use a relay for the second starter.... how were you getting power to the second starter before?

Don't use 1 output for 2 input's without using the output to trigger a relay.

peterubers, make sure first that you've cut the correct starter wire(i.e. when it's separated the key should not crank the starter at all).

Then make sure, like KarTuneMan said, to have a separate relay for the second starter if you haven't already(to power it up during remote start). It shouldn't need cut in half because it doesn't control the starter motor(just activates the cold start circuitry).

2nd starter is relayed:

(-)250mA 2nd starter input from CN2 to 86, 12 fused volts to 85 and 87, and 30 to 2nd starter wire (Nissan)

Here's what happens: when the vehicle is armed, and I try to crank with key -- no crank -- it does, therefore, what it should, it's a starter-kill.

When the vehicle has been remote started, and I turn the key to crank (before hitting the brake), it grinds ..

???

ground out when running to pin 85.

Diode isolate both wires going to pin 85, with lines on diodes facing away from pin 85.

that should prevent your starter to grind.

will give it a try, thanks .. still don't understand why it's grinding with the 2nd starter not split as I did with the 1st starter wire....

correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the second starter wire a cold fuel injector wire. Meaning that when you crank it the second starter activates the injector spraying in extra fuel to help start the car. It shouldn't grind if you did a anti-grind starter kill on the 1st starter wire.
