Hi does anyone have any problems with an 03 golf.A local shop won't do any vw's.This car seems easy,gas engine,no power locks ,no power windows ,no alarm.I planned to the key in a box for th e transponder.If anybody has some info that would be of use please pass it along

That vehicle is a breeze to do ( for me ). Most installers won't touch VW's for some reason. I think it's an urban legend what they say about these vehicles.

i guess because people say its a PITA to open up the steering wheel collumn and the wires are all ribbon. i have never done one, but maybe velocity can break the myth ahah

So Jeff, anything particular that i need to look out for? I am not one to scare easy lol.. Any issues with dash or cover removal?

The thing about VW's is that the older ones you have to go into the doors for the door lock wires and the fact that you have to disarm the OEM alarm through the door locks is a PITA. The ignition wires are no different than any other vehicle out there. The steering shroud can be a pain, but the only part about it being a pain is the two smaller phillips screws that hide infront of the lower half of the shroud. You have to have a flexible extension to get at these screws. Remove the shroud to access the ignitions wires, park lights ( if the park light switch is on the steering column ) and also run the antenna loop for the bypass module.
Most VW's have a OEM security system on them so you can get the hood pin switch inside the vehicle. Tach is easy on the gas versions by going to the injectors and the diesel ones I also set up for delayed start on the Compustar systems.
