I'm installing a remote starter in my 06 ford five hundred. I've done around 20 remote starts to date and none of them have kicked my butt like this one. I received all of my wire color information from a previous post on this site, however I have many questions that I hope someone can help me with. First off many of the wires are at the SJB (smart junction box). The information that I got from this site tells you which connector and what color the wire should be. The problem that I am having is I have no idea which connector is A,B,C, etc. I've tried poking around to find the correct wire color in different connectors, but it is almost impossible to find the wires because there is no extra slack and all of the wires have wire loom around them and are electrical taped. If only I knew which connector was the right one, it would make life so much easier. Also, the doorlock portion of it tells me that it has 'Type B' locks. Can someone highlight on this.. is it a +12v pulse, a ground pulse, or do I need to cut the wire and install a relay between it? Thanks in advance, Brad

Door locks are (-) trigger. As for the connectors, you will need to cut away the loom and the tape to give you the slack that you need to tap into the wires.

I just did one the other day, so I think I have it memorized pretty well.
Constant, ignition, starter, accessory, and horn: Get them in the steering column harness.
Brake: at brake switch
Negative parking lights, negative trunk: The panel with the light switch and the trunk button pops right out, so it's easy just to go there.
Locks: Negative trigger, in the plug at the BCM that's at the lower-most point. There's a good amount of slack on that particular harness, so it's easy to make your connections.

for the record, be very careful tagging the 12v at the distribution block. I dunno what your diagram says, but the one I got from directechs said to only get 12v constant at the dist. block. However make sure you have a good stance when stripping this wire back. Just my luck, my foot slipped out from underneath me when I stripped the wire back and my strippers hit the metal bracing next to the wire. Luckily nothing was damaged, but the fuse that blew was a special fuse that HAD to be ordered from the dealership. Came out to be about $25, and it took a couple days to come in (customer was actually pretty calm about having to leave their vehicle). it was a stupid mistake on my part, I should have made sure I had a good footing before stripping it back.

I did one the other day, but it doesn't remote start when the door is closed. It will only remote start with the door closed if the domelight override is on. I used a Valet 651R. What am i doing wrong? Valet 651R doesn't have doorpin wire or domelight supervision.

The 12volts at the column is only 30 amps....  -------------
