does anyone know if there is a module avaliable for a 06 passat that will bypass the transponder for remote start use. Will the can-sl2 module do this?

Thanks

No bypass available yet for any Audi or VW vehicles. Must use a universal bypass module. Using the CANSL2 will help lots as you do not need to go into the engine for anything.

correct. The cansl will do your doorlocks and doortriggers. No transponder. I wish... SHiet. it would be game over!

is a remote start possible in this vehicle?  if so, would the customer have to get another cartridge type key from the dealer ?

I would assume its still old style transponder and you would need to use a 556u.... There should be 2 wires coming from the transponder ring.....if it is two then you must use the method in which you must cut one of the wires and run in with the 556u.  The biggest problem i had was getting to those wires...I actually had to follow the wires to under the dash and cut there.....If its a new school that uses a different transponder like the "taureg" then you actually have to replace the entire key cylinder transponder.....Also get a valet key for this and not a key that has the door lock functions...

The only problem is that this is not actually a key , but a cartridge / key that when its inserted into the dash , you push it and it starts the car. The transponder and keyless entry are on this cartridge / key .  The valet key is part of the main key. When the valet key is  removed it disables the trunk release. It has no transponder on it .
