I have a 2000 GMC Denali that has a Astrostart Model 2100 remote start/security package installed.  I bought the vehicle used in 04 and the electric start package was already installed so I don't have any history with the system.  I have had some isssue arise with the vehicle not starting and also with not running smooth and when I have brought it in to the shop they have usually traced it back to the electric start.  Typically the surface problem can be identified and I'm good to go for awhile, but when I ask about the root cause with the remote start nobody wants to touch it.  Well, I now have a similar issue as what I have seen in the past with my vehicle not starting and I'm positive it is the electric start causing the problem.

I'm thinking the best thing to do is bring it into a local Aerostart dealer long term,  but I'm stuck in my driveway with a dead car right now and I need some help troubleshooting the problem.   Here is the current scenario:

- The car will turn over great and the battery is fully charged.  I can hear the fuel pump turn on.

- When the car tries to fire a series of switches sound like they are being activated inside the Astrostart box and the vehicle quits

- After trying to start a few times it now just turns over without tying to fire (I think a fuse may have been blown)

If it is a blown fuse any ideas of which ones I should be looking for/at?   Is there some programinng that can be done through the keyless remote to prevent the car from starting?  I'm thinking I may have pressed a couple of the buttons simultaneously when I unlocked the door - which then locked the car out from starting.

Thank you and any response will be greatly appreaciated!

Does the anti-theft indicator illuminate while trying to start with a key? Do you happen to know what method was used to bypass the passlock II system?

If you pop down the panels under the steering column you should be able to find where the original installer made his/her connections. Tracing these connections back to the brain of the system will reveal several fuses, removing these fuses will disable the RS system as well as the starter kill circuit that may have been installed. This will at least eliminate that starter kill circuit as being the cause of your no-start situation.
