I'm working on a 2006 PT Cruiser. I'm installing a viper 791xv. I'm using a xk532 for the sentry/doorlock/door sense. I have to remote working up to a point. I can lock/unlock the doors. The door sense works (i.e. the alarm goes off if I open a door). The hatch release works.
I'm having a problem with the remote start part. When I attempt to remote start. The accessory comes on.( radio hvac) but it does not attempt to crank. When using the diagnostic from the alarm it says no or missing tach. I have learned the tach 2 times. It trys the normal 3 times and shuts down. I have tried the brown wire from the 532 connected to the blue wire on the ribbon cable between the xcrs and brain. I have also tried the second status output for a connection. I checked the brown wire for voltage and I'm getting 12v when not trying to start the car. I don't think this is the way it should be since the manual has it listed as a neg input.
Any questions or suggestions would be great
Thanks in advance.

How about the red dot on the dash, the security light? When trying to remote start, does it come on steady and go out, or is it flashing?

I didn't check the light but I did place a key in the ign to make sure that the sentry was not the problem.

so it did start when you put a key in the ign? if so then did you program the RF portion of the xk532 to the vehicle?

No it didn't start with key in ign. I went and asked the local audio shop and they had no suggestions.

change it to voltage sense and and try to remote start. first without the key in the ignition. if that doesn't work then try with the key in the ignition

shutdown diagnostics showed?
think you need to double and triple check all wiring and connections

USE 180 OHM RESISTOR FOR STARTER 2, SAME WIRE AS ACCESSORY to ground
USE 610 OHM RESISTOR FOR ACCESSORY, SAME WIRE FOR STARTER2 to ground
You will need two relays hooked up and to break the PURPLE / brown wire. I have the PDF if you want me to email it to you.
------------- The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

Now why would I need 2 relays and resistors so fix what I bought the 532 for? The 532 is supposed to take care of that for me or am I mistaken?

You shouldn't need the resistors and relays. Maybe I'm misreading your wire descriptions, but you seem to be describing the pink (+) start input wire from the XK532 being hooked to the purple (+) door trigger input on the 791, when it should go to the purple (+) heavy gauge from the XCRS. Also - try hooking the brown (-) activation input from the XK532 to the pink (-) extra ignition output from the XCRS.

chris you are correct the pink start input wire is connect to the xcrs purple not the main harness. I also just tried the brown to the pink and no crank.

Ok...try metering your connections at the XK532. Obviously you should have +12V with red lead on the red wire and black lead on the black wire. Check the pink wire to make sure it's reading 12v+ with the key in the crank position, as well as when the 791 is trying to crank. The mux output (violet/white wire) should increase voltage when it's trying to crank. Also check to make sure you have the green and purple heavy gauge outputs from the XCRS going in the correct direction on the cut (+) starter wire on the car - if the purple is facing toward the key cylinder it won't work.. ------------- C Renner's Auto Electronix
