Man, it seem most of the time no matter how hard I try I cannot get the hole for the LED the right size to hold it in place. Is there a trick or do I just need to find a better drill set?

i use a step drill and for the size of the hole i go 1/2 way thru with that step in the plastic dash then it fits snug...

Yep, use a Uni-bit.... #1Uni-bit is perfect for LED's, drills up to 1/2" hole. #2 Uni-bit for 1/2" to 1" holes. Look at the first two shown here: https://www.mytoolstore.com/klein/59001.html

What brand alarms are you using? For DEI l.e.d.'s I drill a small hole to start and then use a 9/32" bit for the final hole.

hey floaterr...if you are using standard 5mm LED's use a 1/4"drill bit, and radioshack has this small plastic holder (comes in a pack of 5)that the LED fits into, securing it from accidental pushing through. it makes the install 100 X better, plus you don't have to glue the back-side of the led.
