I'm working on a car that already had an alarm and R/S installed. The R/S was never installed i'm guessing, because there's no status output. I have no idea of the alarm but it does have a diagram on the back. The car is a 95 caprice. i could only come up with diode isolating the ignition wire to activate the relay for the bypass. Any thoughts?

How could a remote start NOT have a ground while running (status)?

What type of unit is it?

Nope. has power, ground, built in door lock relays, ignition input, starter kill output, brake, negative door trigger, siren out, 2 parking light outputs, + trunk pop, led, shock sensor, built in antenna, tach, dome supervision, seperate remote start relay pack, remote start output that plugs into remote start relay pack. doesn't even have a valet switch. made in china 2000.

Could you find the (-) for ignition in the cable between the module and the remote relay pack??

There has to be a trigger wire in the connection between the brain and relay pack to activate the ignition relays. It will probably be (-). I would test these wires.

Good idea. something has to be negative in there. And better yet its not a ribbon cable but three 18ga wires. i'll check now.
