i bought a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a Valet 552T. i just bought the proper remote for the remote start, none came with the car. i tried programming the new remote with the instructions provided, but no luck. in the programming instructions it mentions that the unit might be jumpered,so the programming feature is disabled. what is the trick to get this remote start/alarm programmed with the new remote? thank you.

Check out this page. Transmitter programming info starts on page 36. ------------- C Renner's Auto Electronix

where is the best place to get my remote starter programmed,if it is locked? the instructions i received with the replacement remote instructed me to leave a door open while attempting to program it. the instructions on the page i was directed to,never mentions anything about a door open. would this make a difference? thank you for the quick reply.

That wouldn't make a bit of difference with a 552T since it doesn't have any kind of door trigger input...you only have to leave a door open on DEI alarms.
The only way to unlock transmitter programming is apparently with a BitWriter(programming tool for DEI alarms/remote starts). I'd suggest going to a shop that sells DEI and seeing if they could unlock your unit.
